Ken Smith

Ken Smith, President of FRS Design Group, Inc., has more than thirty-two years experience in the architectural profession, and has been a managing principal in firms since 1980. Although his experience has been in all phases of architecture, Ken has specialized in design and has used his extensive knowledge in the development of residences, country clubs, libraries, condominiums, and hospitals. He is also involved in the adaptive reuse of existing structures.

In addition to his duties as chief financial administrator for FRS, Ken is responsible for private sector marketing and communications. He also directs architectural design and all space planning and interior design projects for the firm. It has been under Ken's leadership that the interiors department of FRS has expanded, allowing the firm to grow in its ability to provide a completely unifying design concept for our clients through the incorporation of furnishings, fixtures and accessories with architectural elements.

He has lectured to educational and civic groups on the various aspects of architectural design, with the emphasis on specific topics such as residential spaces and composition. Ken's background and experience with these subjects have resulted in publication of his concepts, ideas and designs in several periodicals and professional magazines.

Ken received a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1969 from Texas Tech University and has taken graduate studies at that institute as well. Additionally, he has completed continuing education courses in Financial Management for Design Firms at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University and is a registered Interior Designer in the State of Texas.
